I am writing to say thankyou for the 37 years you have been my dentist.  Over the years you have not only looked after my teeth, but also those of my children and my foster children.

For a number of years I moved out of Sheffield but you remained my dentist. On one occasion when I had a problem with my teeth, you took the time out to ring me to discuss the problem and sent me some antibiotics to clear up the infection in my tooth. You also managed to see me between patients when I was in Sheffield, even though I did not have an appointment.Thankyou once again for looking after our teeth, for making coming to the dentist much less stressful than it might be and for being a friend when I needed it.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least to read that others who have been attending Philip Burns’ surgery for over 30 years have never thought of changing dentists, even after moving away from Sheffield. I now live in Huddersfield but have been returning to the surgery twice a year since the eighties. Nor am I surprised at comparisons between trustworthy dentists and trustworthy garages. Just as ive returned year after year to have my car service by one particular mechanic whom I have learnt to regard with complete confidence and enthusiastic respect, so I return regularly to Mr Burns to service my teeth. I have aging fillings, crowns and a bridge, that have never given any discomfort or concern and have surely withstood the test of time way beyond what one should fairly expect. Thanks to his care and attention I have a proud mouthful of active pain-free gnashers. And they’re all but one originals! I have always been delighted by the treatment offered and by the attitude of everyone from entry point to departure. I can't recommend the surgery highly enough.

When I returned from Australia in 1970 to take up a post in the Sheffield Education Department I asked colleagues to recommend a dental practice for myself and family. They recommended a practice in Cambridge Street and Philip Burns became a member of that excellent team and subsequently I became one of his patients. I have problem teeth but over the years Philip Burns has treated my teeth with the utmost care, reassurance and craftsmanship. The Dental Clinic in Cambridge Street had to make way for new buildings and Philip Burns and Associates established the Dental Practice in Charles Street. I am now in my seventy seventh year and I continue with complete confidence to have dental treatment at this practice. The thorough investigations carried out by Philip Burns on each visit together with his use of good quality materials and excellent skill in carrying out a wide range of dental processes continues to impress me. The clinic is constantly developing to include new equipment and clinical processes and it is a pleasure to attend. Philip Burns ensures that the most up-to-date practice is introduced and maintained. This clinic and clinical practice is certainly one of the most outstanding in Sheffield.

I would echo the comments made by my husband and would like to add a few more. I attended the clinic in Cambridge Street with our family of three children over the years – they have now grown up and left Sheffield. We were patients of another dentist who was part of the team Philip Burns and Associates until her retirement. I then became a patient of Philip Burns and have been for over twelve years. I would like to add that the treatment I have received has been excellent with referral to the Dental Hospital when needed. I appreciate the time and care given to my treatment and the courtesy and care I have received from the dental nurses and the reception staff. The Dental Clinic of Philip Burns and Associates is definitely one of the most outstanding in Sheffield.

It is 34 years since my family & I first had treatment from Mr Burns. We do appreciate the care and attention we have received over all those years.

Speaking for myself as I had gum trouble, Mr Burns first reffered me to the Dental Hospital for treatment and once this was completed  he has worked wonders with my teeth, especially as my previous dentist had threatened me with extraction of all my teeth.

I would also like to mention that Mr Burns dental surgery is immaculate. He has all the up-to-date equipment, the room is bright and cheery and his staff are always pleasant and smartly dressed.

May I say a big ‘THANK YOU’ Mr Burns from us all for your professionalism and excellent service.

Adrienne has had Phillip Burns as her dentist for 30 years, going all the way back to his first practice on Cambridge Street. It was through Adrienne that I joined up some 10 years ago and Phillip has been my dentist at the Charles Street practice. Obviously going to the dentist has in the past not been an experience to relish, I can remember painful experiences as a child with the old fashioned cord powered drills and no anaesthetic!

This is certainly not the case with the Burns practice. What impresses us both is the professionalism of the practice, from the reminder phone call 24 hours in advance, courteous greeting at reception, modern waiting room, smart appearance of the receptionists, and NO WAITING (when in the past stress levels build up.)

Mr Burns (for we still call him that) immediately puts you at ease and creates a relaxed environment with the use of up-to-date technology to get the job done. You can see exactly what treatment has been carried out with the before and after photographs. An extensive knowledge of football (although dubious choice of club to support!) certainly takes one's mind off the matter in hand.

Certainly a 'trip to the dentist's has now actually become something to look forward to! Thanks the excellent service over the years Phillip - don't retire too soon! Regards,

Whilst no-one in their right mind could say they looked forward to dental appointments, Philip Burns and his team bring to the experience a professionalism and efficiency that eliminates much of the nastier side of a very necessary service.

As I have been a patient of the practice for some thirty seven years, I feel able to speak with some little authority on the continued high standards achieved. Whilst Philip himself displays the high level of care and practical skill which should be an example to others, the dental assistants and support staff provide a quietly confident atmosphere assuring to the most nervous client. Best wishes for the future of both the practice and my teeth!

A dental practice where you are treated as an individual. All the staff are helpful, friendly and professional. Philip Burns - a dentist who listens. Such a joy for a nervous patient - and there are so many of us!

Treatment is to the highest standard - and the results always look good. We have been patients for nearly 20 years - one of our best decisions.

Having been a patient with the practice for over fifty years now, I would like to express my thanks and appreciation for all the care and attention I have recieved over the years.

First of all with Mr Turner until his retirement, then for the past number of years with Mr Hoyes. I am always happy with the advice and treatment I have received and especially in any emergency. So many thanks again.

I have been trying to recall when I first needed your help to solve the problem for my painful tooth. I was working in Sheffield and a colleague recommended that I contact you and ask if you could help me that day. You saw me within an hour and the problem was solved. That must have been more than twenty five years ago. Since that time you have been ‘my dentist’ and I have been delighted with the work you have done on my teeth – such as fitting a crown (excellent) and the periodic maintenance over many years. I know that the regular check-up has been very worthwhile. To keep an appointment I have a round trip of 40 miles – something I would not do if I was dissatisfied with the outcome of the visit. Your reception arrangements run very smoothly and all visitors are treated with courtesy.  Thank you for caring for my teeth over many years and for the excellent advice you give me.
