About thirty years ago started a very unpleasant weekend. The toothache began around Friday evening, a number of suggested remedies were tried for relief but to no avail and the ache persisted all weekend.

On arriving at work Monday morning I was told of a dentist nearby. The receptionist was very kind and had a word with the dentist, that was my first meeting with Mr. Burns.

On inspection it was decided that the culprit needed to be removed. I cannot explain the relief after having the injection and the pain going away.

The kindness and treatment given to me that morning was exceptional and I have received the same level over the years up to the present day, from a first class dentist and kind courteous staff.

I, like so many others was terrified by a school dentist and took years to recover and kind of confidence about the ‘Appointment With Fear’. However, I can vouch for the fact that although not the easiest days in the calendar, it no longer holds those early horrors and sleepness nights and that is all thanks to Philip and his team.

From the moment I walk into reception until my treatment is over I feel welcome and well looked after, everything is explained, I feel under no pressure and have no concern about necessary treatments being given.

The surgery always keeps up with the latest technology for the benefit of the patients, are happy to take referrals from existing clients and to accommodate, at short notice, emergency cases whenever they can.

I can thoroughly recommend the practice and frequently suggest that people to visit the surgery, after all, I have been a patient for over twenty five years so must say something good about it.

As you know when I first visited you I needed rather a lot of work to get my teeth into good order and as the work has been completed I have found that I have needed not much more doing to them other than a regular check over and a clean. We would like to place on record our appreciation for over 30 years of Professional Dental Care at your Practice. Initially, I registered with you in the early 1970's, followed by my husband and, eventually, our two daughters from 1980 onwards. We have always been made to feel at ease when visiting every 6 months, especially myself as I had previously had quite a bad dental experience but more importantly, over the years, Mr Burns and his Staff have provided us with the very best dental care and advice and the dental work carried out has always been to the highest standard and, indeed, using the most up-to-date technology and materials. Our daughters, one of which is now working away from home has exceptionally good teeth but we were made aware of fissure sealants as a preventative treatment when she was young and, having taken Mr Burns advice and had this treatment, she has never had any problems with her teeth at all. Our younger daughter has experienced enamel problems.

Mr Burns advised us as to the necessary treatment and how to restore the cosmetic appearance of her teeth and she is now in the situation that a second treatment is about to take place to provide her with a confident smile again. All in all, we feel as though we have had a life-long connection with the Burns Practice and have always been accommodated and made to feel comfortable and confident that the very best care, advice and attention to detail is being afforded us. I came to Sheffield as a student and in 1956 a friend recommended Mr Turner to be my dentist, I was happy with this but a few years later I needed some complicated dentistry and Mr Turner said he wished Mr Burns, a young dentist in the practice to do it.

Thus he did, very well indeed, and he has been my dentist ever since. I have every confidence in him. All the dental work he has done for me has been highly successful. I like his manner and his understanding.
