Dental Surgeon GDC 103387

I qualified at Sheffield university in 2006 and have worked in and around the area for the past 11 years.  In that time I have developed my skills as a well rounded general dentist increasing my knowledge in many fields of the profession including periodontology (gum disease), orthodontics, smile design, TMJ dysfunction and sleep/snoring devices, and am looking forward to completing training in dental sedation.   I have always been enthusiastic about developing my career and for providing exceptional care for my patients, especially since  joining Portman in Early 2017.

I believe in an open minded and honest approach to caring for my patients where their overall well-being always comes first.  I endeavour to explain as clearly as I can my findings, all available treatments and strategies for care, how they work and what it will involve. I am always drawing pictures for my patient trying to help them visualise the problem and how treatments work mechanically and aesthetically.  I strongly feel that it is important that my patients feel in control and comfortable during their time in my care.

My first priority in any consultation is always my patient’s health and well-being.  Personalised medicine is a pet hobby for me and I am keen to develop my understanding of nutrition, allergies, genetics and the bio compatibility of the treatments I am providing in dentistry every day.  Understanding of the wider reaching consequences of tooth loss and restorations in the mouth is key in my treatment planning and is always considered individually for each person.  The body is all connected and a problem in one area will always have further-reaching consequences.   We should always be looking for the underlying problem and treat that rather than just treating and covering up the symptoms it causes.

Outside of dentistry I am a keen climber and enjoy mountain biking with my husband when I manage to get out around looking after my adorable yet demanding little daughter!  I am working on learning how to look after our tiny garden and love getting out walking and enjoying the Peak District area where I live with my little family.
